RETIREMENT THOUGHTS
She considered retiring from sport after the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. She had not enjoyed her experience at the Games, so coach Eric Braize told her to take some time out. After four months away she discovered that she missed swimming, and she returned to the pool in January 2017 with a modified training programme. "I put more emphasis on physical work. I'm in the water only once per day, generally in the morning, and I do gym work and cardio in the afternoon." (jactiv.ouest-france.fr, 06 Sep 2017)

STUDY BREAK
In 2019 she took time off her occupational therapy studies in order to focus on her training for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. She had expected to stop for one year but after the Games were postponed to 2021 she continued focusing on training. "I'm ready to start a second sabbatical year [2020/21] to give me more chance of success [in Tokyo]. I train the whole week at my club in Rennes [France]. I'll go [to Tokyo] to win a medal in the 100m backstroke. The gold would be great as I didn't push back my studies one more year and do all these sacrifices only to reach the final."
