General Interest

General
Brazil qualified for Tokyo after finishing second at the 2019 Parapan American Games in Lima, where they lost the final to the United States of America. The US team had already qualified for Tokyo at the previous year's world championships, meaning runners-up Brazil secured the Paralympic berth on offer in Peru.

Tokyo will be Brazil's third Paralympic campaign after first appearing at the 2012 Games in London, where they finished fifth. They finished third in front of a home crowd at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro, where a semifinal defeat to the US team was followed by a 3-0 victory over Ukraine in the bronze medal match.

Brazil have appeared at all four editions of the world championships since 2006. Their best result is a fifth-placed finish at the 2018 edition, where they won all three pool matches against Ukraine, Finland and Egypt. The Brazilians then lost 3-1 to the Russian Federation in the quarterfinals, but recovered to defeat Canada and Ukraine in the classification matches.
