She took up the sport in 2015 at the Gun For Glory Shooting Academy in Jabalpur, India. (firstpost.com, 26 Jun 2021)
:
She was discovered through a talent search organised by the Gun For Glory Shooting Academy in India. "I wanted to do something else besides study in school. Gun for Glory Academy came to my school to advertise shooting and I told my father I wanted to do this. So I registered myself and I got selected. That is how the interest developed. My parents backed me and that is how I took up shooting. The journey started from there." (firstpost.com, 26 Jun 2021; gnspf.in, 07 Aug 2020)

Her parents. "We still see in our country that girls are not given as much freedom. But my parents never stopped me. They never stopped me from going to various competitions. When you are getting this kind of support, you feel validated in your choices. You feel as if you are on the right track." (thebridge.in, 19 Aug 2021; firstpost.com, 26 Jun 2021)

COVID REBOUND
In May 2021 she was one of a number of Indian Para shooters to contract COVID-19 while at a training camp in the country. She was unable to train for more than a month, until days before the World Cup event in Lima, Peru, where she won gold in the women's SH1 10m air pistol and secured a quota place for India for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. "It affected our training. It was also mentally exhausting. At that time I felt my chances were much less, there was a lot of negativity. But when you have a strong base, you can overcome anything like that. We got to train for just five days in Peru. Even till the end, I did not know the quota would come along with the win."
