MISSING OUT ON RIO
He was unable to compete at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro after missing the registration deadline because of his late arrival at the Games. "I trained harder for the Rio Paralympics than the London 2012 Paralympics, but I missed out because of a small mistake that happened between some top officials and us. We got to the Paralympics a bit late and they said we were too late to process our way in." (playthegame.org, 02 Nov 2016)

CAREER-THREATENING INJURY
He fractured his shoulder blade at his first national competition - the 2004 National Sports Festival in Abuja, Nigeria. He considered quitting the sport to focus on his shoe-making business and faced pressure from his family to stop. However, he used his life savings to pay for the treatment of his injury and carried on competing as a powerlifter. (punchng.com, 08 Sep 2012)
