General
HONOURING SIAMAND RAHMAN
He is targeting gold in the +107kg category at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo to honour the memory of fellow Iranian Para powerlifter Siamand Rahman, who died due to cardiac arrest in 2020. Rahman won gold in the +100kg category at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London and in the +107kg category at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "Siamand's death was a bitter event for me, I did not imagine that one day I would succeed him in this situation, but fate has dealt me a different hand. I have said many times that the Paralympic gold medal belongs to Siamand Rahman and I am going on behalf of the Iranian people to win it."
