HUSBAND
She met her husband and fellow Japanese Para judoka Haruka Hirose in 2013 at tournament in Colorado Springs, CO, United States of America, and the couple married in 2015. "We had a long-distance relationship at first. Therefore, I told him, 'If a distance is a problem, I will go to Ehime [Japan], so please marry me'. At that time, I wasn't sure whether I would be able to continue my sporting career there, but it was okay just to be with him. [Now] even if training is intense, I feel assured that Haruka is with me. I would've quit judo if my husband was not with me. I'm happy to get married to him."
