"When I discovered goalball everything changed. Honestly, I didn't love the sport at first. I was really unsure of the whole concept of throwing my body on the ground. However, after some practice and my first tournament, I was hooked. What drew me to goalball was that for the first time in my life, my vision wasn't a barrier or limitation and I was on an equal playing field with all of the other athletes. I was able to be an athlete first, not having to compensate for my vision loss. This was an empowering feeling and I became obsessed with the game." (usaba.org, 05 Feb 2020)

General
DEVELOPING WITH THE SPORT
Playing goalball has helped her personal development. "Being exposed to a community where you are around people who have a shared experience being blind or visually impaired, you really learn to become more confident with yourself and grow. You see other people who are older than you as role models. Because when I first started I was in high school, so I saw people who'd gone to college, people who were married, people who had children. There [were] always role models for me, [showing me that] I can do all this stuff and my disability isn't a limitation." (self.com, 01 Jul 2019)

She has studied for a master's degree in clinical mental health counselling at Antioch University in the United States of America. (Instagram profile, 02 Mar 2020)
