She first tried the sport at a camp for children with a vision impairment. "They had Paralympic athletes who had competed at previous Games such as Barcelona, Sydney, and Athens. These athletes showcased their sport. I found that goalball was one of my favourites, because everyone was put on the same playing field and it honestly was a way that I could meet other peers who were also visually impaired. I found after a while that goalball was my niche, it gave me a place where I felt at home, and truly could show what a great athlete I could be." (paralympic.org, 15 Feb 2018)

General
DOING IT WITH THE LEFT
She feels she has an advantage as a left-handed player. "Being left-handed is different, but it's also really special. It's an advantage because people aren't really used to the way that someone left-handed throws. When I learned the sport, no one taught me how to throw left-handed because they only worked with right-handed players, so I had to learn how to do everything that way. One day, I switched to throwing left-handed and there was no going back. I am forever grateful to coach [Jake] Czechowski, because he always encouraged me to embrace being a lefty, because he is too." (usaba.org, 02 Sep 2020)

OTHER ACTIVITIES
She has studied for a master's degree in business administration at DeVry University in Naperville, IL, United States of America. (LinkedIn profile, 01 Sep 2020)

TRAINING
In 2017 she spent time training with the men's US national goalball team. "They were in a different growth at that point. I was at a stage where I wanted to take goalball to the next level and training with the men can do that. I wanted to learn how to become a better defender and throw a lot better."
