General Interest

General
The People's Republic of China are making their fourth Paralympic appearance at Tokyo 2020. The team secured their place at the 2020 Games through the 2019 Asian Championship in Thailand.

The Chinese team first competed at the Paralympic Games as hosts in 2008, where they finished top of the group stage. Facing Brazil in the final, they took a 1-0 lead but could not hold on and had to settle for silver after losing the match 2-1. The Chinese were ranked fifth at London 2012, and at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro they lost the bronze medal match to Argentina on penalties.

The People's Republic of China finished third at the world championships in 2010 and 2018, beating England and the Russian Federation, respectively. They also reached the bronze medal match at the 2014 World Championship but lost to Spain on penalties.
