Impairment Details
She had cancer between 1996 and 2004. She now has monoplegia [paralysis] in her left leg and muscle loss in her right leg. (Athlete, 06 Aug 2012)

General
POWER OF BABA
Her horse Barilla [Baba] had a significant impact on her recovery from cancer. She competed on the horse at the Paralympic Games in 2012 and 2016. "Baba saved my life. After having been diagnosed with cancer in 1996 and having been in and out of hospital for about eight years, I really thought my life was finished. Then Baba came, she was just broken in and I thought she would be a good rehabilitation horse for me." (eurodressage.com, 20 Jan 2020)

RIDING STYLE
Due to her impairment, she competes riding side-saddle. "I would absolutely not be able to ride any differently. Because I cannot use my legs, I would be simply unable to force a horse and if I were to attempt it with my seat, a loss of balance would be the immediate result." (eurodressage.com, 20 Jan 2020; Facebook profile, 15 Jul 2016)
