COMEBACK WITH A NEW TEAMMATE
He won gold in the time trial tandem B event at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London with David Llaurado. The pair also won tandem gold medals together at the 2007 and 2006 world championships. But Venge decided to stop cycling in 2015 because of his broken hip injury and a lack of motivation. He then chose to return to the sport in 2021 with a new partner Noel Martin and the ambition of qualifying for the rescheduled 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. "I would like to relive those glorious moments and I have missed that camaraderie with a teammate a lot. I would pay to have a time machine and go back to that stage of my life. Sometimes I open the drawer to look at the medals I have achieved and I feel nostalgic. When you are in the maelstrom of the competition, you don't realise what you're doing and, until you retire, you don't give value or savour each win."
