He decided to take up Para cycling to see how his body would respond to intense physical effort after he went on a cycling tour of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada. "I saw that through Para cycling I could bring more exposure and attention to the incredible Para athletes around the world." He was also inspired after hearing about Canadian Para cyclist Ross Wilson, who also has an impairment as a result of Charcot-Marie-Tooth [CMT]. "I thought, 'If I am going to be cycling to counteract the degenerative nature of this impairment, then maybe I should think of doing Para cycling'."
