In 2012 his right hand got stuck in the sugar cane machine while he was helping at his family stall in Marang, Malaysia. The hand was amputated at the wrist. "I was helping my family selling sugar cane water during Ramadan. It was a busy day and I was rushing to meet orders. Suddenly, my wrist was caught in the sugar cane machine."
