DISQUALIFICATION
His results from the 2016 World Championships in Montichiari, Italy [which took place in March of that year], were declared void by the International Cycling Union [UCI] after he tested positive for meldonium at the event. However, he was not given a suspension as the substance was only added to the list of banned drugs of the World Anti-Doping Agency [WADA] on 01 January 2016, which meant a positive test would have been possible at the competition through use of the product in 2015.
