"I wanted to be active with kids my age, but doctors were adamant that I could not. I loved sports, but I was not allowed to practise them. But then, when I had begun walking long distances to improve my stamina, one morning I passed the offices of the National Sports Federation for Persons with Disabilities. I went in out of curiosity and thought, 'Why don't I try?' Since then I haven't stopped." (Instagram profile, 04 Aug 2021; stathopoulost.com, 12 Sep 2018)

"When I was little I used to say, 'I can't' to my father many times. He used to say to me, 'No, you don't want to'. He was so right. In order to achieve our goals we have to take one step at a time." (stathopoulost.com, 12 Sep 2018)

General
EARLY DAYS
When she was a child her father had health issues and her mother struggled with mental illness. She and her sister grew up in a children's institution in Greece. "My parents had some financial and serious health issues. My dad lost his kidney and had to go for a transplant, and my mum had serious psychological problems, and she was forced to let us grow up in an institution. She actually left us the opportunity to grow up normally and have a better life, because she was unable to provide those for us. That was what I believe happened. At the institution we grew up with comforts and love. With all the kids we became friends and we had beautiful years of our adolescence. It was full of love, laughter and games." (ereportaz.gr, 10 Jun 2019)

ATHLETICS AND CYCLING
She has competed in both Para athletics and Para cycling at elite level. "I love every sport that I've practised. Both athletics and cycling are two difficult sports to build endurance, improvement and technique. But I think cycling suits me the most. I feel free and complete at the same time." (stathopoulost.com, 12 Sep 2018; ontherecord.gr, 01 Apr 2017)

INSTRUCTOR
She is a licensed instructor in power cycling in Greece. (Facebook profile, 20 May 2021; theconceptfitness.com, 01 Jan 2019; stathopoulost.com, 12 Sep 2018)
