General
SWITCH TO TRICYCLE
In 2014 cycling coach Brian Gilbert suggested he switch to racing the three-wheeled tricycle, instead of his usual two-wheeled time-trial bike, in the hope that it would provide him more opportunity on the international stage and a better chance at securing national funding. Gilbert converted his former time-trial bike into a three-wheeler and by 2015 he had performed well enough at his first international competitions on the trike to earn selection for the world championships in September that year. "[On a trike] I've got to ride the corners totally different. I'm actually quite enjoying it." (stuff.co.nz, 26 Mar 2015)
