Impairment Details
His impairment is the result of a motorcycle accident in 2003. He broke both of his feet and his left femur, and sustained an open fracture of his right lower leg. He underwent multiple operations, including to move muscle from the right thigh to the right lower leg. CLASSIFICATION
Having first become involved in the sport in 2008, he improved his time at the Vatternrundan in Sweden over the next several years. After the 2011 edition of the ride, he decided to enquire about getting a Para cycling classification. "I wanted to know more so I contacted the SCF [Swedish Cycling Federation], but they were doubtful if my injuries were severe enough for me to be classified as a Para cyclist. It was difficult to get my injuries assessed because there was no Para cyclist in Sweden with a similar impairment. So, international expertise was required.
