He got involved in triathlon during his studies at the University of Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia France Institute [UniKL-MFI], and formed a running and cycling group with his able-bodied friends. After spending two years competing in triathlon and cycling, he was invited to join the Malaysian Para cycling team in the lead-up to the 2017 ASEAN Para Games in Kuala Lumpur. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle prior to his accident, and then took up cycling as a hobby. "I just liked cycling. Before that, I was fully into my motorcycle. I liked cycling on the road, and into the jungle. So then I started buying some accessories and meeting new people in the sport, which led me to joining city events and other competitions."
