She wanted to remain physically active following her accident in 2007. After doing some research she decided that handcycling would suit her best. "I wanted to try such a thing, to see whether I was able to ride it. I tried it and it was incredible, an unbelievable experience. I felt freedom again." MOVIE
In 2013 a short movie was released about her life called 'Jestem Renata' ['I am Renata'], in which she talks about her accident and the ways it has changed her life. "The day of the accident was the first day of my new life. I simply had to learn to live in a different way. I had to learn everything from scratch. I couldn't even sit." GUIDE
Before her accident she was a climbing guide in the Tatra mountains in Poland. "Before the accident my whole life revolved around the mountains. I used to be very active. All I did was think about the Tatras - about being there, climbing there, even living in the Tatra valleys. I finished a guiding course, I passed the exam, I became a Tatra guide and my great dream came true.
