In 2021 she fell from her bed while playing with her daughters and sustained a severe traumatic brain injury. She required several months of recovery before returning to training and everyday activities. (Athlete, 28 Aug 2021)

She transitioned from Para cycling to Para canoe in 2015, at age 48, and began the sport at the Daniel Rowing Centre in Tel Aviv, Israel. She was originally involved in able-bodied gymnastics from age 10. Following her accident she took up Para swimming after moving to Israel and aimed to qualify for the 1992 Paralympic Games in Barcelona, but quit the sport due to a lack of funding. She returned to sport at around age 40 and would compete in Para rowing at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, Para cycling at the 2012 Games in London, and Para canoe at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro.
