General
SANCTION
In July 2017 he received a retrospective one-year suspension from the Boccia International Sports Federation [BISFed] after a sample he provided at the 2016 World Open in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, returned an adverse analytical finding for the prohibited hormone and metabolic modulator trimetazidene. The period of ineligibility was from 23 May 2016 until 23 May 2017, with all his results during that time disqualified, including those at the 2016 World Open. In a press release, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency [RUSADA] said that it accepted the positive test was a result of medication prescribed by a cardiologist, and found there was no intention by the athlete to enhance performance.
