She played able-bodied handball at elite level for teams in Switzerland and Spain prior to her accident. She won a bronze medal in wheelchair tennis women's doubles at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens. (SportsDeskOnline, 20 May 2020; paralympic.org, 18 Sep 2019)

Having competed in wheelchair tennis at the Paralympic Games in 2004 and 2008 she was approached to start Para badminton ahead of the 2010 European Championships in Switzerland. She had previously played Para badminton shortly after her accident. "The sport had become bigger, better and more organised. And then in 2014 there was the decision that it would be included in the Paralympics programme. I decided that I wanted to go for that one, one more time." (paralympic.org, 18 Sep 2019)
