She played wheelchair tennis when she was younger, and also represented Peru in wheelchair basketball. While she was at the 2015 Parapan American Games in Toronto, ON, Canada, she met Peruvian Para badminton player, Pedro Pablo de Vinatea, who invited her to try the sport.
