PROMISE WITH MOTHER
In 2011 he withdrew from the national team's selection trial for the 2012 Paralympic Games as his mother Yoko passed away from cancer on the competition day. "My mother would have definitely told me, 'Go to the race and do your best', but at that time I wanted to be with her, so I gave up my dream for the 2012 Paralympics. However, I never forgot that three days before she died my mother said to me, 'Do your best to compete on the global stage'." (Sun TV YouTube channel, 25 Aug 2020)
