General
LATE DIAGNOSIS
He was bullied when he was younger because of his delayed speech development, but his intellectual impairment was not diagnosed until he was age 16. "When I was 13 I was not very good at speaking Dutch. Many children at school thought I came from abroad, but I was born in the Netherlands. I was very ashamed. I didn't want everyone to know that I had a disability. In the end I came out of it and I was able to achieve a lot. I'm proud of it, especially because people realise what I can do now."
