When he was younger he competed in able-bodied football before switching to Para athletics. He was then invited to an event at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam, Netherlands, where he was scouted for the Dutch Paralympic talent team. DISTANCE LEARNING
He uses online distance learning to catch up on school classes he misses due to his sporting career. He is also assisted by coach Arno Mul, who previously worked as a teacher. "I don't do much for school, although I have to do my best this year [speaking in 2019] to pass with better grades.
