MENTAL HEALTH
In 2020 she spoke about struggling with her mental health the previous year. "2019 was a year that broke me, but it was also a year that I learned how to stand on my own two feet again, literally and figuratively. It was a year of some of my lowest moments but also some of my greatest triumphs. Sports-wise I excelled, I got to travel and compete in Dubai, Peru, Montreal, Phoenix, and San Diego to name a few. Track gave me an outlet away from my reality. It truly gave me an escape from what I was feeling inside. My personal life is where things did not go so great for me. I know physical pain and unfortunately I know it well and I've spent the past several years learning to cope with that pain. What I didn't know was the mental pain and exhaustion that can occur within someone. The pure exhaustion that concurs with anxiety and depression is out of this world. It constantly eats away at you and makes you feel worthless. I didn't reach out and I didn't get help. Looking back this is my absolute biggest regret. I still have my bad days but they no longer outweigh the good. I have friends, family, teammates, coaches and co-workers that love and support me and I also know that I can lean on them when things seem unbearably tough and for that I am forever thankful."
