He was born with retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic disorder of the eyes. "My biggest trauma was not being able to ride my motorcycle when I was 14. All of the kids in my town used to ride around. At the age of 16, when I lost almost all of my vision, I got depressed but I was lucky to have friends and family."
