General
EVENT ELIGIBILITY
She says it is unfair that female athletes with the T62 classification will be unable to compete in 200m and 400m at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo. T62 athletes can still compete in 100m alongside T44 and T64 athletes, while a 400m event will also take place for male T62 athletes. "It is not fair. The athletes with single amputations have one foot to lean on at the start, so they are able to react faster. I think they should let us race together or apply the same handicap system as in other events." (as.com, 16 Apr 2021; change.org, 01 Nov 2020; 2020 Paralympic Games medal events programme, 28 Jan 2018)

AUTHOR
She has written a children's book that was published in 2019 titled 'Sabes quien soy?' [Do you know who I am?]. The 36-page illustrated book has five characters with different hobbies and impairments, who show the reader how they live their day-to-day lives. (revistalideras.com, 01 May 2019)

HEALTH ISSUES
She was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in the period between the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and the 2017 World Championships in London, England. She required surgery, and then had a further medical procedure one year later after doctors discovered she had basal cell carcinoma [a form of skin cancer]. "I think that things happen for a reason, and that it is better to face them with a positive attitude rather than being bitter." (elpais.com, 23 Jan 2019; rtve.es, 21 May 2018; gerente.com, 25 Nov 2019)

OCCUPATION
She has worked as a teacher at a primary school in Villanueva de la Canada, Spain. She took a leave of absence from her job in January 2019 in order to focus on preparing for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
