In 2016 her left leg was amputated below the knee as the result of a motorcycle accident in July 2015. (rheinische-anzeigenblaetter.de, 06 Nov 2019; sportstiftung-nrw.de, 17 Sep 2019; Instagram profile, 02 Jul 2018; deutsche-paralympische-mannschaft.de, 2017)

General
FOOTBALL
She played football for the SV Eintracht Hohkeppel club in Germany before she sustained her impairment, and the thought of being able to play again was her strength as she underwent multiple operations after her accident. Following the amputation of her left leg in 2016, she took up the role of assistant coach for the team but left after a year to pursue Para athletics. "The doctor gave me the two remaining options, amputation or stiffening of the ankle. It was clear that football would be over for me and I just couldn't put up with it, football was my life. For me it was clear that amputation was the right way. I couldn't even walk with a stiffened foot. Being on the field, I always compared myself to the time before the accident, which was not good for me." (Facebook page, 26 Feb 2020; www1.wdr.de, 11 Nov 2019; rheinische-anzeigenblaetter.de, 06 Nov 2019)

OTHER ACTIVITIES

FURTHER EDUCATION
She has studied for a master's degree at the Technical University of Cologne in Germany. (sportstiftung-nrw.de, 17 Sep 2019)
