He was inspired to take up the sport after seeing other athletes with an impairment training and competing. He initially started running, but since he had weak knee joints his coach advised him to switch to throwing events. "Sport helped me recover, and I knew that I was good at what I was doing. Training helped me tune in to a positive mood. At the age of 17, I could already start training professionally, and this strengthened me even more, because before that I weighed only 40 kilograms.
