Shortly after his accident he attended the 2005 National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Minneapolis, MN, United States of America, and was inspired to try Para sport. He tried several sports, including skiing, basketball and tennis, before choosing to pursue archery after attending clinics hosted by US Paralympic archers Jerry Shields, Jeff Fabry and Russell Wolfe. "Originally it would be once a month, that turned into four times a month and that turned into me wanting to buy a bow and try to get better and better. You're always trying to make yourself better.
