She was an elite Para pistol shooter and switched to Para archery due to a right shoulder injury. While she was competing in pistol shooting at the 2008 Paralympic Games in Beijing, she was invited by Canadian archers to watch their events. "[Canadian Para archer] Kevin Evans was in a shootout [at the 2008 Games], and the whole crowd was looking at just them. And it just seemed like a totally different atmosphere. I didn't want to retire from sport and archery was an easy transition from pistol shooting." (wiartonecho.com, 29 Jul 2021; Athlete, 23 Aug 2015; cbc.ca, 10 Aug 2015; toronto.com, 03 Aug 2015; )

DANCING AGAIN
She had tough times after her motorcycle accident in 1985 that left her with one leg. She found a renewed motivation when her sister badgered her to dance, which had been her hobby prior to her accident. "When I lost my leg all the activities ended. I was a little embarrassed. I didn't try, I was afraid. I didn't want to fail so for eight years, I did nothing. There was depression, anger, an adjustment of feeling sorry for myself, a combination of all those things in the grieving process. I didn't even dance. After an hour [of her sister's badgering] I said yes and got up and I felt good and that changed everything." (cbc.ca, 10 Aug 2015; toronto.com, 03 Aug 2015)
