In 2016 he turned down a job offer in investment banking with Wall Street firm JPMorgan Chase & Co. 'It wasn't a great financial move, but I think it panned out alright. You only get the opportunity to pursue athletics once.'

Despite winning silver in hammer throw at the 2018 CWG, he decided to switch focus to discus and consistently threw 65m in 2019 and 2020. 'With discus you don't reach your maximum strength or potential until you've had over 10 years of training.'

Played table tennis, golf and football before committing to athletics. 'Quite quickly I noticed that I was developing faster in the throwing disciplines. Over time I became more and more focused on throws, and since 2013 I have been a discus thrower.'
Silver at 2014 Youth Olympic Games. Silver at 2019 U23 European Ch, bronze in 2017. Finished 5th at 2016 Junior WCh. His younger brother Henning PRUFER (GER) won silver in discus throw at the 2014 Junior WCh in Eugene, OR, USA. 'My brother and I were very active children. We started early with athletics and football. Over time, it became more and more athletics and less football.'
Finished 14th at 2016 OG. Gold at 2019 WCh, silver in 2017, 5th in 2015. Silver at 2018 European Ch, 5th in 2016 and 24th in 2014. His mother Tania is from Finland but represented Sweden in discus and won a Swedish national championship title. He has been fluent in Finnish since a young age. 'I actually feel at home in both countries.'
Bronze at 2016 OG. Finished 15th at 2015 WCh. Finished 19th at 2018 European Ch, 8th in 2016 and 7th in 2014. Coached and inspired by father Miroslaw. 'Before the final [at the 2016 Olympic Games, where he won bronze], I hadn't really gotten one shot and I was already feeling a bit unsettled. But Miro was sitting there in the stands and just said to me 'Today is your day, you do it'.'
Making OG debut. Finished 31st at 2019 WCh. Gold at U23 European Ch in 2021, 2019. In 2021 season, 2nd at Stockholm Bauhaus Galan and Bislett Games Diamond League events. He says he was surprised by his progress in 2020, which included breaking the European U23 discus record. 'If someone had told me before the season that I was going to progress that much, I wouldn't have believed them.'
Finished 18th at 2016 OG. Placed 20th at 2019 WCh, 16th in 2017, 11th in 2015. Gold at 2018 South American Games. Gold at South American Ch in 2019, 2017 and 2015. Placed 5th at 2019 PanAm Games. Played basketball and football before switching his focus to throwing events. 'What I liked the most about athletics was travelling. In football and basketball I did not have the chance to travel.'
Finished 26th at 2019 WCh, 17th in 2015. Finished 6th at 2014 CWG. Gold at 2013 Central American and Caribbean Ch. Finished 5th at 2010 Junior WCh. He was introduced to discus by his older brother Ravi, who competed in the discipline. 'One day he brought home a discus and he was telling me that if I could roll it, like bowling, that's how far I could throw it.'

In 2017 and 2018 he was named Male Athlete of the Year in Lithuania. Most memorable achievement was winning gold at the 2017 World Championships in London, England.
