POSITIVE POSTPONEMENT
He welcomed the postponement of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo as he was concerned about the lack of contact training he would have been able to do had the Games gone ahead as originally scheduled. "There are no gyms open and mat sessions are closed. It's not healthy for another person to touch each other, especially wrestling, such a contact sport. I still think about what I put in to get to where I am but postponement gave me peace of mind that we still have time to compete and still have some time to train. We thought about the bigger picture and how this is affecting so many lives. It's bigger than sports." (kgw.com, 24 Mar 2020)

CONSIDERING QUITTING
His coaches persuaded him to carry on wrestling when he considered retiring after finishing second at the Canadian selection trials for the 2016 Olympic qualification tournament. "I was done with wrestling. I just couldn't see myself bouncing back. Then my coaches said the best thing to do is just get back on the mat. And it worked. I have been thriving ever since." (darpanmagazine.com, 29 Jan 2020)

FAMILY SPORT
He says that wrestling with his brother Parm since they were young boys has benefited them both. "He'll help me accomplish my goal and I'll help him accomplish his throughout our whole life. We know each other's every move. He knows what I know." (theglobeandmail.com, 07 Sep 2013)
