"I used to compete in athletic hammer and shot at national level, and I went to a strength and conditioning coach called Yousef Ziu to learn Olympic lifting in order to become stronger for athletics. He proposed I should give it a go, and after some convincing I did and here I am. Clean and jerk is my favourite as I'm a lot better at it and I love the buzz of it being heavier than me. With snatch I have a love-hate relationship." (profeet.co.uk, 24 Jan 2018)

"You can have people support you but you have to believe in yourself. You've got to have confidence in your ability, otherwise the bar will not treat you nicely. It's 100% mental." (fuerzmagazine.wordpress.com, 08 Jun 2020)

General Interest

General
QUICK RISE
She progressed quickly in the sport and after just six weeks of training she qualified to compete at the British championships, where she was runner-up in her weight category. Eighteen months later she was part of Team England at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, QLD, Australia. "I was naturally very strong and powerful, but I didn't have very good technique. It was a lot of hard work drilling the technique over and over again. I progressed quite quickly, but at the same time I had to work hard for the progress. It has been a bit of a whirlwind." (fuerzmagazine.wordpress.com, 08 Jun 2020)

OTHER ACTIVITIES
She worked with teenagers in care as part of a pastoral team before starting to focus on weightlifting. "It teaches you a lot and was very rewarding. It was difficult, but is something I want to go back to when I'm done competing." (insidethegames.biz, 10 Apr 2021; nottinghampost.com, 07 Oct 2019)
