She started out as a swimmer and played a variety of sports growing up. "A team in the local junior competition was short on players and asked if I could help fill the numbers one week. I instantly loved it. I enjoyed all of my other sports but as soon as I tried water polo, they didn't matter and I was set!" (delfinasport.com, 17 Jun 2020)

INSPIRATION
She says her father Phil is her hero and contributed to her development as an athlete. "My dad is my hero. He's taught me the meaning of hard work, discipline and other things. He never sat me down and was like 'this is how you do it, this is how to be an athlete, do this and do that'. It was more watching such a good and motivational role model. I always looked up to him and wanted to be like him. I used to Google his name when I was young because the stories he'd tell us weren't enough." (rugbypass.com, 24 May 2021; theaustralian.com.au, 24 May 2021)

STUDY BREAK
In 2020 and 2021 she took a leave of absence from studying and playing at the University of Southern California to return to Australia to train with the national team in preparation for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. (usctrojans.com, 24 May 2021; nswis.com.au, 24 May 2021)
