RETURN TO THE NATIONAL TEAM
He returned to the national team ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, having not represented Croatia since he received a suspension in April 2016 for breaching team rules. "The national team chapter was ended after this one incident. After the dinner, I went out and did not show up on the agreed appointments the next morning. It was my big mistake and therefore I was suspended. There were some signs that I could come back, but it didn't happen. I had a right, very normal and nice conversation with the Croatian head coach [Ivica Tucak]. Of course, everything is in the interest of the Croatian national team and because of the Olympic Games, which are of course the top for every athlete. It is an indescribable honour for me to play, to be in the national team again. It always carries a special responsibility and feelings. If I wasn't with them, I would be perhaps their most loyal fan. So I don't feel like I wasn't there for a long time. I think I will fit in great."
