"I didn't start watching the Olympics until the 2008 Games. Growing up I loved every sport, so at that point it didn't matter what sport I would play, but I knew I wanted to play at the highest level. I was a post player in basketball, a late bloomer. I got to high school, and everyone else grew, and I hadn't grown yet. Then I got good at water polo in my freshman year. I picked it up super quickly. My sophomore year I'm too competitive to sit on the bench, so I gave up hoops and volleyball and decided to focus on water polo." (usawaterpolo.org, 11 Aug 2019; fina.org, 08 May 2018)
