BREAK AND RETURN
In 2012 he worked as a physical education teacher at a middle school for one year after the Japanese team did not qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. However, he decided to return to the sport with the aim of competing at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. "I was considering my retirement from competition at that time. However, I realised that I should've not given up my Olympic dream, when I taught my students about the importance of aspirations and effort that would help them to achieve their dreams."
