She initially practised dance but was told at age nine that she was too tall to be successful. She then tried a number of sports, including basketball, athletics and swimming, but was inspired to take up volleyball after watching Japanese cartoon 'Attacker You!' which features the sport. "I'm thankful to volleyball because it has made discover who I am. I was a shy girl but the game has helped me to become more extrovert and autonomous. It has taught me to get up after a defeat and to know how to do teamwork with people who have your own same goals and dreams, and to work together to achieve them." :
"To succeed to have to defeat your rival, but above all your own limits. Making it can make you feel happy and joyful. Defeats and pain are part of the game, but it is worth the effort." (iodonna.it, 26 Apr 2019)

General Interest

General
RESPONSIBILITY
In May 2017 she was named captain of the Italian national team, and says she considers the role a big responsibility. "I had just won the Italian championship with Novara when national coach, Davide Mazzanti, called me and told me I would be captain. The captain role is never easy, you need to be responsible. I always look to solve all the problems within the team and keep it united. Being a captain means making the team relaxed inside the court as well as outside the court." (iodonna.it, 26 Apr 2019; gazzettaregionale.it, 09 Dec 2019)

TATTOO
She has a tattoo on her right arm that symbolises her relationship with her brother Gaetano. "Our two initials are on the tattoo. Next to his 'G' there's an anchor because he's a reference for me. Next to my 'C' there are birds that mean freedom. Both initials are circled by the infinity symbol." (unicatt.it, 01 Oct 2018)
