"One thing that throughout my career I've learned, is that as much as I love triathlon, competing and representing my country, it's the people, 100%. And not even from the same country as you. I have some amazing Canadian teammates that I'll love for the rest of my life, but some of the people that I've met on the circuit that you'd be able to live it and to share things with, and who understand what you go through. It's just like this bond that I think has made all the difference and it has made me love what I do." (triathlon.org, 25 May 2021)

In 2018 she was named Canada's Elite Female Triathlete of the Year. (triathloncanada.com, 19 Dec 2018)

SWITCHING OFF
When triathlon events were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, she says she took time to switch off from the sport. "I took 19 months off racing. I lived in Bend, Oregon [United States of America] with my best friend [US triathlete Chelsea Burns] in an RV for about eight weeks and we were just mountain biking and did some running. But I think like a lot of athletes, when the delay to the [2020] Olympics was announced I was pretty lost. I was living in the UK, I was in Bath [England], and Chelsea called and said, 'What do we do now? Let's go on an adventure'. After chasing the Olympics for so long I just left my apartment, left my car, left my whole life, thinking like everyone it would all be over in a few months. We drove the entire coast from Seattle to California and we just kind of hung out, and didn't really think about triathlon." (triathlon.org, 25 May 2021)

FUTURE PLANS
Following the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, she says she plans to return to university and compete in cross-country running at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada. (goheat.prestosports.com, 19 Jan 2021)
