COACHING CHANGE
In 2021 she began working with Slovakian coach Vladimir Platenik. She had previously been coached by her husband Sergey Demekhine, who continued to fulfil coaching responsibilities alongside Platenik. "My work with Sergey has always been difficult. It has taken a lot of emotional strength. As everyone understands, it is very difficult to switch from your personal life to the training process. In everyday life, you can communicate kindly but, when you go to the court, a coach will demand and scold you for some mistakes. All of this was difficult for both of us, so we made the decision to invite Platenik to join us. In fact, we wanted to strengthen the team with one more specialist before, but it didn't work out financially. Perhaps this step will help me rise higher in the rankings. Vladimir is leading the training process, trying to add something new to my game. Sergey, of course, knows me well, but only gives hints at certain moments. The main coaching work is done by Platenik." (olympics.com, 11 Apr 2021)
