General
DOUBLES FOCUS IN TOKYO
He earned quota spots for Canada in men's singles and mixed doubles for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo by winning both events at the North American qualification tournament in March 2020, but turned down the singles place to focus on the mixed doubles with partner Zhang Mo. "[Tokyo] is my third Olympic Games and yes, I expected to win [the qualification tournament], but I really hope that the younger athletes can catch up to me soon. It is always very special to walk into the stadium, representing Canada and I am very happy that I qualified. My goal is to focus on every single game and hope to play my best table tennis." MOVE TO CANADA
He was born in the People's Republic of China and moved to Canada in 2004. He was fast-tracked to receive his Canadian citizenship and passport in June 2012, so he could represent the country at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
