He took up table tennis at age seven in Moscow, Russian Federation. (mytischtennis.de, 02 Jun 2020; etrafika.net, 19 Sep 2014)

He was advised to play table tennis after being diagnosed with astigmatism. "I started when I was seven. At that time I had problems with vision, and astigmatism was diagnosed. My ophthalmologist then advised me to do a sport with fast, small balls, such as tennis or table tennis. We lived in Moscow at the time, my parents then looked around the neighbourhood and found a music school where table tennis training took place in the basement. There was a lot of dust and a few tables there - and a wonderful old man who made me fall in love with table tennis. His name is Vladimir Borisovich Shiy, he trained me until I was 10." To compete at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. (danas.rs, 20 May 2020; sport.blic.rs, 04 Feb 2020)

Helping Serbia secure qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games in the team event at the 2020 World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Gondomar, Portugal. "My dad follows sports extremely closely, and he read an article a month before we went to Portugal, in which it said that Serbia's volleyball players and handball players have a chance to reach the Olympics. He commented that it was strange that they didn't mention table tennis. I told him 'Dad, don't be silly, we won't get to the Olympics'. It was a joke. I really wanted to play at the Games, but I saw myself there in 2024 or 2028. My dream came true faster and it was wonderful." (sport.blic.rs, 04 Feb 2020; frontal.ba, 31 Jan 2020)

"Table tennis may not look like a demanding sport, but it is not as it seems at first glance. It is a complex sport where all the muscles of the body work, and in order to compete at a high level, the athlete must be physically ready. Of course, in addition to physical fitness, there are many different factors that affect the development of players, such as technique, recognition of rotations, tactics and of course the ability to make quick decisions. Tactics, as in any sport, are crucial to success. But it's not the same tactic for every player, so each individual should be prepared in a specific way." (frontal.ba, 31 Jan 2020)
