His wife Park Young-Sook represented Republic of Korea in table tennis, while his wife's twin Myung-Sook has competed in the sport at national level in Republic of Korea. He and Park won silver in the mixed doubles at the 2013 World Championships in Paris, France, and gold at the 2013 Asian Championships in Busan, Republic of Korea.
