PLAN AFTER TOKYO
She is set to retire from international competition after competing at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, but plans to continue competing in the sport at club level. "Internationally, I think it will finally be over for me after the [2020] Olympics. But the club wants to keep me involved even after my active career, which I'm really looking forward to." (ttbundesliga.at, 14 Apr 2021)

MOVE TO AUSTRIA
She left her home and her parents in the People's Republic of China at age 15 to move to Austria and work under coach Liu Yan Jun. Liu had seen her play the previous year, liked what he saw and asked her to move to Europe. She received Austrian citizenship in 1998. "I was quite young when I moved to Austria but my coach was already in Europe and he has been like a father to me. So there was no reason for me to feel insecure." (ITTF, 18 Sep 2003)

She has served in the Austrian Armed Forces in the third Mechanised Infantry Brigade and as a corporal in the Austrian Air Force. (bmlv.gv.at, 01 Aug 2004; Austrian Federal Ministry for Defence, 23 May 2003)
