MOVE TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Born and raised in Wuhan, People's Republic of China, she moved to Beijing at age 13 to enter a government-run table tennis academy. She represented her nation of birth at the 2009 World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia, winning gold and silver medals. In 2011 she moved to New York City, NY, United States of America, to live with her long-time partner, who she later married. After living in the United States of America for five years she became a US citizen, surrendering her Chinese citizenship. RETIREMENT REVERSAL
In October 2018 she received an email from USA Table Tennis [USATT] saying that she may not be able to represent the United States of America at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. This was due to the International Table Tennis Federation [ITTF] reviewing its criteria on players born outside the country they now represent. The news prompted her to retire from the sport in December 2018, however she reversed her decision in June 2019 after the ITTF cleared athletes who were Olympic-eligible before May 2018 to be able to play. "I know some people try to land into smaller countries and get a pass into the Olympics. I'm obviously not in that kind of situation." (scmp.com, 24 Jun 2019)

OCCUPATION
She is the co-owner of New York Indoor Sports Club in the United States of America. (teamusa.org, 01 Mar 2020)
