Her brother Adrian Dodean has played table tennis internationally for Romania, including at the 2011 World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands. She grew up in Arad, Romania, and at age 18 moved to Italy to play for ASD TT Sandonatese. She later left Italy to join the Werner Schlager Academy in Schwechat, Austria, in 2010. In 2015, she began playing for French side TT Saint-Quentinois as she was drawn by the family nature of the club, where she played for three seasons until 2018, after which she joined Metz TT in France.
