Finished 19th at 2019 WCh. Finished 5th at 2018 Pan Pacific Ch. Bronze at 2016 and 2012 Asian Ch. In other events - bronze in 200m individual medley at 2016 and 2012 Asian Ch, silver in 400m IM. He focuses on weight training in order to build muscle in his upper body, particularly his chest and shoulders.

Three bronze medals at 2019 World Cup events (Kazan, Berlin, Budapest). His mother, a swimming coach, taught him how to swim. In his spare time he enjoys playing percussion instruments and bass guitar, going to music festivals and concerts.

Finished 2nd at 2021 USA Olympic Trials. Placed 4th at 2019 NCh, 5th in 2018. Won at 2018 Barcelona - Mare Nostrum. His brother Colby and father Scott have competed in swimming at collegiate level in the USA. His mother is a swimming coach. 'When I was growing up, I didn't like it that much because I was forced to go to the pool every day. But I like to race.'

'Given my average height [180cm] I know that I have to work more than the others and be faultless in how I look after myself. My talent is my motivation.'
